This new edition is our ode to New Orleans in her 300th year, inspired by the lush, tropical beauty that is ubiquitous in our amazing, swampy city. The design is also inspired by my Dutch roots, a pattern in delft blue on white ceramic.
Each black, bird-shaped soap contains a blue, ceramic bird, handmade from Louisiana Clay, which remains as a keepsake once the outer soap has washed away.
Through the daily act of washing, you will eventually free the clean, white, ceramic birds inside - potent symbols of restoration and recovery. The soap is shaped to be cradled in your hand and is a powerful representation of all creatures affected by the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Disaster.
The soaps are made with natural, locally sourced ingredients: biodiesel glycerin, fair trade olive oil, aloe, activated black charcoal, and a light cypress scent - reminiscent of Louisianan bayous.
To prolong the life of handmade soap please keep in a soap dish and allow to dry between uses. Store in a cool and dry place until ready for use.
These fine soaps are all-natural, they contain no shea butter or animal products. We have received many thank you's from those that are allergic, and they are really wonderful for your skin. It is great for all skin types and not drying for daily use. The heavenly Rigaud Cypress scent has a rich history that began in Paris in 1850 and is delightful for both women and men.
The activated black charcoal makes our soap wonderful cleaners. We are happy to be of help to our regular customers that are cooks, mechanics, and makers that love how gentle yet powerful our soaps are in removing tough residue while not drying their hands.
Testimonial from International Bird Rescue:
“The idea for BirdProject is so simple yet resonant, that of darkness washing away to something flawless and beautiful. We see this first hand all the time at International Bird Rescue. Birds that come to us covered in oil and thick tar get a second chance when they’re thoroughly washed and nursed back to health. We are so grateful for our partnership with BirdProject. This is a company that walks the walk, and knows exactly what we mean when we say, “Every Bird Matters.”
